What we Do

We offer a ministry of hospitality to those persons who work and visit our ports in Duluth, Minnesota and Superior, Wisconsin.

The goal of the Center is to greet, with Christian hospitality, the crews of ocean-going and freshwater ships when they some to the port. We provide:

  • a warm welcome in the name of Christ;
  • transportation for shopping;
  • phone cards to call home;
  • Internet access;
  • opportunities for Christian services;
  • a Correspondence Bible study and pen pal programs;
  • hats, gloves, scarves and warm clothing;
  • Christmas gift boxes

All seafarers and transport workers are welcome at the Center.

Because of the make-up of the ships’ crews and nature of the shipping business, most seafarers served at the Center are from foreign flagged ships.

Fellowship and Support

The Center offers fellowship, hospitality and a place to relax away from the “on board” life. We have pool, table tennis, and foos ball, a large screen TV with both VCR and DVD players, and a Play Station 2. We offer sale of phone cards and internet access. We provide a listening ear, friendship, and advocacy for those who are lonely, homesick, or may have serious needs. Christian clergy are available. Translators are also available.

Clothing and personal items are available at the center, and sometimes carried to the ships for those who cannot leave the ship.

Because many seafarers will be on the sea away from home at Christmas time, Christmas gift boxes are provided to seafarers at the appointed time.
